First of all, we would like to welcome everyone to Balto's Treasure. We have rules here, and those who do not follow them will be banned. Depending on the rule depends on for how long. Please behave and follow the rules.

  • Kid Friendly?: Yes. - We are trying to keep this site generally kid friendly. When it comes to swearing, please keep it to a minimum. We try not to think of it as swearing here, just a high usage of words. Please do not use swearing constantly if flaming. It is not appreciated. We allow things other sites would not, considering them kid friendly enough. If you don't like something, don't read it.

  • Double posting - We do allow double posting, but only to a point. Trying to get your topic noticed by posting "bump" is not allowed. If you can please edit posts. It saves space on our server and leaves it open to other things. Remember that it is easy to edit a post instead of posting another to 'fix' the apparent mistake you made.

  • Avatars and Signatures - Please don't put a signature or avatar that will make us cringe. The allowed size of sigs is up to 600x200. Please put it at right that, or smaller. Anything bigger, you will be PM'ed to make it smaller, or PM'ed a smaller size. Avatars can be 100x100, and up to 32 KB. All avatars in the avatar gallery were made by MayaHuskee and Tibb_wolf. You may use them HERE, on Balto Source, and any of the Staff's sites/forums. Please give credit in sigs on other forums. Thanks.

  • Typing - Please, we speak a language that normal people can understand. This means we do not speak in SMS, 'Txt' speak, or Chat speak... Or whatever you might call it. We are not a cell phone, we are a forum. We used to be really big on SMS but it isn't so bad now. But we still will warn you when enough is enough. Saying things like 'brb', 'bbl', or other various things are okay. But please do not push it. We are pretty flexible these days, but like I said don't push it. (:

  • Replying - When replying, please make it something someone wants to read. And it needs to relate to the topic. If it doesn't, that is considered spam. And we try to keep down on the spam. Please don't write something simple like "Cool." or "Wow." Please put something that contributes a little more. Otherwise don't bother posting.

  • Topics - When making a topic. Make a useful topic. We are here to make a actual conversation and have fun. A topic that is about your 'Favorite type of Cheese' is not one we want anywhere in our forums. I mean, there are better things to talk about than that, eh? Please try and make topics that make sense. Writing one sentence and then thinking that is a good topic, is not allowed. Please write more than that for us to read. And please try and not make a big controversial topic. This is a little kids site too, so making a topic about 'Is Santa Real?' is not the best idea, because older kids/teens are probably going to say 'No, its not. Grow up. Aren't we all a little old for this?'.. Well, kids these days still do. So respect that, please, and don't make that type of topic.

  • Staff - Staff is chosen by how someone acts. Tibb_wolf & MayaHuskee choose the staff, and we will probably discuss it with the rest of the staff before choosing someone. Asking to be on the staff will make sure you never are, no matter how good for the job you could be. Other members of the staff may recommend you, but the final verdict is up to Tibby and I. Do not ask anyone to recommend you. That's another way to never become part of our staff. Only those who we find responsible enough will be on the staff.

  • Accounts - Please keep your username moderately friendly. We don't want names referring to 'sex' or 'ihatebalto' (for instance). You may only have one account, and if found to have two, the original will be banned, and the second deleted. We know how to tell when someone is someone else. If found to have two, depending on how we feel depends on if you deserve to ever be unbanned.

  • Unwritten Rules - We will try and make sure all rules are written, but some may not be. You CAN be banned for a rule that is not listened or talked about. If we feel its necessary, we will ban you. So please watch what you do.



  • What is SMS?
    SMS, or 'Short Message Service', is a form of shorthand used on mobile phones, instant messengers, and whatever else it can poison. Examples of such are: AFAIK ("as far as I know"), CU ("see you"), 2DAY ("today"), and CYM ("check your mail").

  • Is SMS allowed?
    SMS is allowed to a point. We are a forum not a cell phone and we expect effort when you type.

  • What type of SMS is acceptable?
    Sense we do have some allowed SMS, here is a list of what we deem acceptable and what it means:
         ■ BRB :: Be Right Back
         ■ BBL :: Be Back Later
         ■ BBS :: Be Back Soon
         ■ TTYL :: Talk To You Later
         ■ G2G or GTG :: Got To Go
         ■ TY or TYTY :: Thank You (Thank You)
         ■ YW, YVW, and NP :: Your (Very) Welcome, and No Problem
         ■ SRSLY (do not over use) :: Seriously
         ■ BBY, OHBBY, and OBBY :: (Oh) Baby
         ■ RLY, ORLY, and YARLY :: (Oh) Really, and Yeah Really
         ■ PM :: Private Message; ++Warning: When typing "PM's" please remember to add the apostrophe or capitalize the P and M... otherwise people might think you are saying "PMS" (as in that moody state that females get in). Or if you want the mods and admins to have a good laugh, don't. It's okay... we like to laugh. (:

    There probably is other types of SMS that is allowed here, but this is the current list of thought of terms. If you have a question about any of them, or if we could add another please Private Message MayaHuskee or Tibb_wolf about it.

  • What is definitely not accepted?
    There is plenty of SMS that we do not accept here. Here is a list of some examples:
         ■ CU
         ■ 2DAY, 2MORROW, and 2MOZ
         ■ L8R, L8TR, or L8TER
         ■ U, R, B, Y, etc...
         ■ SUM, SUM1, or SUMTHIN
         ■ TTLY; This is often mistaken for 'TTYL' which means "talk to you later", where as this one means "totally".
         ■ M8 or M*
    These are just a few examples... as needed we will add more (although hopefully we wont have too!). Please remember that if you dont know what these mean, the better you are! You do not want to become a person who turns into a 'txtr' on the computer. We don't care how you type in IM, or on your phone, but we do care about how you type on our forum. So please respect that and take the extra time to add the 'yo' to 'u'. Thanks. (:
